Juno Beach Office:
Dental Implant Procedure in 10 Steps
Step-by-Step Sequence of Appointments
- Consult
This is the first step in the full-arch process. During this appointment, you will meet with Dr. Kurt O. Bally, DMD, FICOI, to discuss your needs and options for dental implants. The consultation typically takes about an hour and is complimentary, a $525 value. - Records
Your dentist will take a series of records, including dental X-rays, 3D scans, and photographs. These records are used to create a personalized treatment plan and to fabricate your dental implants. - Pre-surgical Consult
This appointment is held prior to surgery to review the risks and benefits of the procedure, as well as the recovery process. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about your treatment. - Surgery
During this procedure, the implants are placed into your jawbone. Surgery typically takes about 2 hours per jaw and is performed safely under oral anesthesia. All patients leave with temporary teeth on the day of surgery and return within 1–2 weeks for their first post-op visit and to receive the first set of implant prototype teeth. It is important to follow a very soft diet after surgery and before receiving your first prototypes. - Prototypes
One to two weeks after surgery, you will return to check your healing and receive your first set of implant prototype teeth that attach directly to the implants. Up to three versions of teeth may be created during healing to ensure both the dentist and patient are satisfied with the look and feel. These prototypes test the fit and function of your bridge before permanent placement. - Healing
The implants need 4–6 months to fully integrate with your jawbone before the next step. Dr. Bally will provide a night guard to prevent excess pressure on your implants. During the healing period, you will continue on a soft diet. - Prototyping and Verification
Once healing is complete, your dentist will create a final prototype of your dental bridge. This prototype is verified to ensure the correct size, shape, and color before the fabrication of your permanent zirconia implant smile. - Delivery
During this appointment, your permanent dental bridge is placed. The procedure typically takes about 1 hour and is a rewarding moment for patients as they see their final smile. - Post-delivery Consult and Documentation
After your zirconia implant smile is installed, this appointment provides your final night guard and detailed instructions for maintaining your new smile. Final pictures, X-rays, and video documentation mark the completion of your implant journey. - Maintenance
Your zirconia implant smile requires ongoing maintenance to ensure proper function and longevity. This may include professional cleaning, minor adjustments, and routine checkups.
